Really glad to hear fame from TikTok isn't such a thing anymore, because, gosh, I sure dislike TikTok.

Say it louder so they can here you in the back!

It reminds me of Bo Burnhum's take on Conan.

"You got to take a big breath, and give up. The system is rigged against you, your hard work and talent will not pay off.

…I would say don't take advice from people like me who've gotten very lucky. You know, we're very biased.

Taylor Swift telling you to follow your dreams is like a lottery winner saying liquidise your assets. Buy Powerball tickets. It works."

Some of the best advice I ever got was from a real successful sax player who'd played with lots of names. He said, "No two career paths are the same." Stuff that works for one person isn't going to work for everyone, and a lot of gimmicks only work once. The Sheeran/Seinfeld advice is good stuff.

Great piece. Thanks for sharing. You're right to point out that artists with long, established careers often like to speak in abstractions, which isn't helpful. They're too far removed from the reality of today's grind.

This article is solidified by your very own podcast where halfway through the episode this club owner mentions offhand that he funded the purchase by getting a huge loan from his brother. It really is who u know ig
